Supplementary Benefits AHV & IV
Supplementary benefits (SB) to AHV and IV support individuals whose pensions and incomes are insufficient to cover their basic living costs. They particularly assist elderly individuals, people with disabilities, or those who are unable to work due to health reasons. SB cover expenses such as living costs, rent, and healthcare. Individuals who meet the legal requirements are entitled to these benefits. Together with AHV and IV, SB form an essential part of Switzerland's social security system, significantly contributing to poverty prevention and promoting social justice.

Disability Allowance
People who depend on others for daily activities such as dressing, getting up, eating, or personal hygiene are considered "helpless" under the Invalidity Insurance (IV) or the Old-Age and Survivors' Insurance (AHV). Under certain conditions, they may be eligible for a helplessness allowance.
The amount of the allowance depends on the degree of helplessness (mild, moderate, or severe) and is independent of income or assets.

Caregiver Credits
If you care for dependent relatives who are easily accessible, you are entitled to caregiver credits. Relatives include spouses, children, parents, siblings, grandparents, stepchildren, and life partners who have lived in the same household for at least five years. Caregiver credits are administered by the cantonal compensation offices.

Additional Insurance for Household Assistance
Doctors can prescribe domestic support, but these services are only covered by the health insurance if you have a corresponding supplemental insurance policy. Please consult your health insurance provider for details on your options.
